Step by Step guide to installing a Mark VIII motor in a 96+ GT.

Nope. They use the nodular iron crank and the same crappy pistons/rods as every other 4.6l 2v from those years. Stock, you can take it to 450ish rwhp, built, I have seen 1000HP monsters. The beauty of it is that the Mark VIII uses the Teksid block.

I am getting ready to do this swap into a 2001 gt with a 5sp. I have a 97 mark viii 4.6DOHC along with the pcm and wiring harness. Here are my questions.
Can I re-use my clutch? Spec stage 3 with 10k miles on it..don't wanna have to get another one. If I can't, what clutch do I need? Also what flywheel do I need? I have the tr3650 tranny.
Just to clearify that the stock gt computer and harness will work with the mark viii engine with a few modifications to the harness?
Thanks.

Yes, I am still running a GT computer and a GT tune with my engine.

any updates on this? new track times or anything else i should know before starting the build? if i get a high mileage motor, what are some things i should replace in order to make it reliable? anything big difference between getting a 97-98 vs 93-96 engine?
basically all 96-98 cobra parts are what i would be looking for from now on correct? cams, heads, headers, intakes, pistons, rods and all that?

Still no track numbers, the weekend I was going to go, I sprung a water leak. The biggest difference in the 97+ motors is the intake, to save a headache, you really want the 97+ intake, or a cobra intake. The motor should be reliable. And yeah, all part will be for a Mark VIII or a cobra.
