Default Ecu question

Alright ladies and gentlemen just need some more help. I am looking to do a 4.6 swap but am having trouble with the ecu because I am a little confused. Guys who have done the swap have said get your year vehicle computer and harness. No problem except when I look for ecus there are like five versions of the automatic ecu. What do the numbers mean in id? I need to know before I buy but I think I am ok as long as it is an 07 auto gt ecu. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

There's different "strategy codes". As long as the year model is the same, it's compatible. You'll want to get a custom tune regardless, if nothing else but to disable PATS to get the car to start up. Just tell your tuner the strategy code, he'll take care of the rest.
Also make sure the ecu is for a manual if you have a manual, auto if you have auto.

If you have a '07, a '07 or '08 ecu and engine harness will work just fine.

Anyone have a connection with a dealership or know of the cheapest one? I am having a hard time finding a used 07 08 wiring harness and my local dealership quotes 736 new. Any help would be great. I already got the ecu. Thanks

So here's my question....my dealer says PATS can't be disabled out of the ECU, it's a separate module? Are they just idiots or is this really true? And if so, how do you go about deleting it?

you can have a tuner disable the pats system. unless something has changed, the dealer guys don't know what's up.

Default More info on swap

Before swapping anything, it is advised to you to consult a technical person for that. Sometimes, it happens that technical advice can be of very great help. People spend extravagantly on seeking such kind of advices.
