4.6 to 5.4 swap 3v
So I am pretty new to these mustangs. I've been reading alot on the mod engines. Aparentlly the 4.6 and 5.4 use the same heads and my trans will bolt up to a 5.4 block. I found a brand new 5.4 block for 2600 or close to that. I had already planned on doing ffrp heads and cams. So from what I've read they only thing that won't cross over is the intake manifold. I've searched and searched this. I've seen alot of guys doing this with the 2v engines in the new edges but can not find anything for the s197. I would really like to get some thought and opinions. And maybe someone who has done this. I know I could just slap a 5.4 4v in but I think that would cost way more. Anyway just some thing to think about.

We have an engine swap section, let me move this there...
OK, when it comes to the 5.4, I'd mess with the 4V mill because it's a proven platform with more potential.
If you wanna be cheaper than the GT500 set up, the 5.4 found in the 99/03 Navigator will do just fine and can be pick up for less than $1500 at your local yard.
The 03 version made 390hp and 425 lb of torque so you're starting with a good base here.
The headache in this will reside in matting the electronics no matter what 5.4 you'll use.
If you have a good local tuner, you'll be ahead of the game on this project.
Good luck.
