5.0 in a 99 mustang
Hi any advice is much appreciated. I just recently got a project the body is a 99 .the engine and trans are all in just have to wire up the engine harness to the the chassis . So I need advice on how to proceed with this . The engine is a 87 5.0 ho with b303 cam and a msd billit distributer

One word...illegal!!! Unless this is a track car this is not a swap that can be done legally as you're breaking emissions standards laws. The other problem is 96+ Mustangs are OBDII EECV technology, 95 and back were OBDI EECIV technology and are not cross compatable so you'd need a complete 94/95 mustang donor car for the swap.

Do some looking dont forget saleen put 351s in 99 mustangs back in 99 and they were emission legal so it has been and can be done

That's because Saleen built them and they were specially modified 351 Mustangs that ran on OBD II systems. The 302 is not the same motor as the 351.

Even of it is a different engine the fuel injection setup and computer should b able to control my engine right ? And I would b able to retain the factory gauges minus the speedo

No, it can't. Each ECU has pre programed MAPs. Each made to control a specific aspect of that motor. Try running a 5.0 with a 99 harness about about all that gonna happen is the lights are gonna come on when you try to start the car. None of the sensors will plug into the harness and most if not all of the engine components will not plug into that harness. Each harness is made for a specific motor and ECU. The ECUs all use the same connector to that harness, but what the ECU powers on that harness differs from pre 96 and 96+ OBD II systems.
Now lets say everything was identical and the ECU was the only difference, even then the 5.0 would not run. The 96-04 ECUs are programmed with different timing advances, different fuel curves, and yes, different firing order. So in short the engine would "maybe" rotate but would never fire let alone run.

Well ile just going to go with the carb setup for now . Don't really like the modular engines even though I no that would b a easy swap

Even if you did that, you're still going to be out thousands of dollars doing the swap to make it all work right and not gain any worth while power over the V6. For the time / effort, you'll get more out of your money for the 4.2L V6 swap.
