Default 351w & 4r70w

O.k. guys, Ive done a lot of searching and found most of my information here. This is a great forum. I am NOT however working on a mustang. I recently acquired a 97 f150 with a blown 4.2. (free btw) I also have a 85 f250 with a 351w that's about to rust to the ground but has a great drivetrain. My plan was to swap the Windsor into the 97 but have run into one snag. Can I use the 4r70w? I know that it will bolt up and I have to find the correct flywheel. No problem there. But what about the computer? Can I just leave the ECU in the truck and the transmission handle itself or will it not being hooked to the engine effect anything? If its a big ordeal I will just swap the c6 as well but there is less work if the 4r70w can be used. No big power here either just putting it together to drive. (as cheaply as possible)

C'mon guys, almost 120 views and no one knows. Someone has to be able to answer this. Save a guy a LOT of work here. Pulling both the engines today.

O.K. well I found that I do need the TPS. I can fab up a bracket for that and if that's all that's needed...no problem. Or I can buy the transgo manual shift kit for 210.00. Gunna try it with the TPS first unless someone has some input. I know this is in the wrong type of forum but all I get from the F150 forums is how it shouldn't be done because it wasn't designed that way.

Hot-rodding is a lost art. Go anywhere near the edge of the box, and people freeze up. Go completely outside the box, and people get unreasonably upset.

I would mention what I want to do, but it would a) not help you at all, and b) would draw the attention of nay-sayers. I'd rather just do it and then let people stand, mouth-agape and in awe of my engineering brilliance.

You can use a Powertrain Control Solutions Controller.
