I'm coming into this project half way through... My brother started the project several years ago and I've finally decided to finish it. So far as I know I need a custom oil pan and drive shaft. Anything else I should know or keep an eye out for as I dive into this?

Also keep in mind i have little experience with cars. I'm coming from a vintage motorcycle background...

Do you have all the electronic hook ups (ECU etc...) that comes with the 4.6?
If not, brace yourself for a nightmare.

You might have to modify your trans tunnel not sure, but it's a minor mod.
Also, little things like engine mounts/radiator outlets correctness etc... need to be addressed.

I have most if not all electrical. I believe motor mounts have already been taken care of. My main concern is the drive shaft. Apparently a stock driveshaft can be cut and rewelded to fit but i don't have the facilities or resources to accomplish this... Not with my dinky mig.

All you have to do is go anywhere that makes driveshafts and they can re tube your shaft to whatever size you want

Interesting. Is it really that simple? What does something like that cost?

Upon re-sizing your driveshaft, it will need to be balanced and this is not a step to overlook trust me.
The cost is around $150 if your U-joints are good.

Typically with a custom driveshaft you'll have to measure it out on your own, I'd talk to whoever is building the shaft and see what they suggest.
