302 into a 99 v6, got some questions
Hello everyone, been a super long time since I posted. Finally getting back into the game. So I recently picked up a clean 99 5 spd base model. I think it's a good platform for a swap, however there are a few details I need some answers to.- 1. The K member. From what I've read, the K member in the 99 is the one used for MOD motors. So I'm assuming that I need a 94/95 one. What are the differences in regards to the control arms? Any differences between the 5.0 one and the 4.6 one other than engine mount locations? Is the suspension geometry the same? Will the v6 rack from the 99 bolt up to the sn95 k member?
- 2. The 5spd. Is all I need to bolt it up to a 302 a sn95 bell housing?
- 3. Hood clearance. This car is going to be carb'd with, most likely a medium or high rise intake, can I just cut a hole in the hood a use a small bolt on scoop, or do I need a whole new hood?
A few things about me: I'm a certified mechanic and have been working on cars a long time. I know foxbodies very well, a have a lot of experience with them. I have completed engine swaps before. Had a 93 ranger with a 302 and AOD. So yes, I know there's always going to be something that will need finessing. This car is going to be a fun car for me, and won't see much over 400 HP. My plan for it is for it to be more of a road car rather than a drag car, so I don't want the extra weight of a 351. The car doesn't have to meet emissions. Anyhoo, thanks for reading, and any input.
