EFI swap??????
hey guys ive been offered to take a 97 Mercury Cougar off of my buddys hands for nothing. It has a mid mileage 4.6 (non PI) a solid 8.8 rear and a blown tranny(auto anyway) my question is if i took this off of his hands will the engine fit and be usable in my 76 coupe i have heard of EFI swaps but never in a II. If anyone has tried this please let me know if its possible to do the swap i would greatly appreciate any advice on this matter. Thanks.
sorry about the italics hit a series of keys and now it wont turn off.

RE: EFI swap??????
None of that will bolt in unless you like a wiring headache welding and making alot of parts pass on it.Im not a fan of the mod motor is the size of the 429/460 but only 281 or 330 ci.Id sell it and build up your 8 inch or swap it for a 9 inch get a 302 efi or 351w and build it up tranny is up to you.

RE: EFI swap??????
yeah the 2v modular motors are worthless IMO. now, the DOHC 32 valve motors can be made into absolute monsters and the new 3v variable timing motors make alot of power but the regular 2v motors are crap. huge and no cubes + dealing with oil pan clearances is always a PITA in our cars

ya it was just something that came to the table and i was gonna jump on it but ive decided to just go with a 5.0 or a 5.8 theres more mods available and it would probably be an easier install
