C6 Vette?
I am new to this forum and i don't know how you guys feel about Vette's. I am not a big fan of Chevrolet, which is why i prefer Ford but, I just wanted to know how you guys feel about the new C6 Corvette....i actually think it looks pretty good, better than the generic looking C5. From what i here it has pretty decent performance to....opinions?

RE: C6 Vette?
Vettes have for the majority of their existence had pretty good performance. For the money they better have pretty good performance, which is why I like mustangs. They are reasonably priced and for not much money you can have an awesome car. I wish Ford would spend more time on suspension design though. I haven't seen a price for the new mustang but I think with the performance it's going to have it will be the best since the emissions controls screwed everything up. We're going to be getting a lot of bang for the buck. To answer your question I think the C6 is cool but I would like to own the Ford GT way much more. But, I can't afford either so what does it matter.

RE: C6 Vette?
C6 = 400hp in a base model form. You can prob pick one up for 50K. You can't beat that. You can always re-sell a Vette for almost as much as you bought it. If you keep it long enough, you can sell it for more. The '05 GT is coming with 300hp but is packin on some more weight. It's not going to be much faster than the current GT's. The supercar GT is a great car. It's 150K+ though.....next ZO6 is "supposed" to be faster and it will be less than 70K.

You're proving my point, 50k is a lot of money. If you pick up an Mustang for about 25K and dump 20 to 25K into you're going to have a serious car. Vettes are extremely cool cars, especially the Z06, but that's a lot of money.

If you pick up a Pinto for $32 and put $20-25K into it, you're going to have a serious car. There's no logic there. That is a lot of money. But in the end you're not getting a Mustang or a F-body, you're getting a Vette. If you just want to go fast, get a used LS1, change the stock 10 bolt, throw in some 4.10's, get some slicks and welcome the 11 second passes with basically no mods. The only really good reason to get a Vette over a f-body or a Mustang, is the re-sale value.

RE: C6 Vette?
You're right. If I could afford a Vette I would be much less likely to hammer it like I do my Mustang. I've got at the most $2,000 in my car. It's relatively fast and I have a lot of fun with it. That's exactly what most of us are looking for a fast car for as little money as possible. With those criteria My Mustang would beat a new Vette hands down. If you want a fast car with AC and cruise control that you can drive every day that will keep its resale value then you wouldn't even consider my car. The logic is if you want a fast car for less money you don't buy a Vette you buy a Mustang or even a Camero. If you wanted a car that would handle well for the lest amount of money you would buy the Camero instead of the Mustang. If you have a bunch of money and want a car that handles great and goes fast and is more likely to win a road race you buy a Vette. It all depends on what you need out of a car. Then of course there is always that brand loyalty thing.

RE: C6 Vette?
You can put money into a stang and an F-body to beat the Vette on straight line runs, but the best thing about the C5 is its great handling. Drive one to its limits and you'll see. No offense to my Stang, but it is a rubber band compared to my old C5. C6 promises to be even better.
