DOD on 2009 Mustang?

RE: DOD on 2009 Mustang?
I'm not sure what you're talking about by DOD. Are you talking about displacement on demand? Cylinder deactivation?? Because I'm of the mind right now that Ford is gonna HAVE to implement that sort of feature in its next generation mustang motors if it wants to compete with Dodge and GM's offerings. Plus it makes sense. Why not give us power mongers a feature that will save us gas when we aren't using that power?
If you're talking about a DOHC 4.6..........then yea, I've heard the same thing. The consensus seems to be that the current generation 3V motor could put out a healthy 35 to 50 more HP if redesigned with 4V heads and quad cams. I'm hoping that's what we're gonna see in the 08 Bullitt next year.....but only time will tell. As far as the next generation of mustang GTs, I'm hoping that DOHC will be the standard if Ford decides to stick to the 4.6. I'd rather see a bump up to a 302 motor myself, but I think a 4V 4.6 could still get it done if the new stangs stay as light as the current S197's........or if they get lighter.

ThisBlood147,
Yeah, displacement on demand. If Ford doesn't do something to increase horsepower, reduce gas consumption, AND get us out of paying the gas gussiler tax, I think they are going to be at a real disadvantage when the Camaro and the Challenger roll out in 2009. I'm in a market for a new muscle car and I'll be taking this in consideration.
