FEEDBACK for a new member PLEASE.
Hey guys,
New to this forum but a long time Mustang fan. Here is the story....with some important feedback requested.
I am going to be test driving a 2007 Saleen S-281 SC today for the first time ever. I am looking at buying potentially. I need as much feedback as possible to the opinions of those who know. Is the Saleen a car worth buying (understanding that they are overpriced)??? Is it's re-sell value as good as they claim it is??? Can it whoop the crap out of most everything else on the road????? FEEDBACK PLEASE

I think it is a great car, think it is a fast car that will beat 95% of what is on the road (except for some vettes, vipers, other very high performance cars). I would not buy thinking you are going to have some great resale value. That sounds like salesman BS to get you to buy the car. Cars are depreciating assets, end of story, some hold their value better then others but it will depreciate considerably over the years.

The Saleens are some of the fastest production Mustangs ever made. The supercharged version like you're looking at is sweet and I'm pretty sure once you test drive it you'll realize that you're faster than most cars. As far as resale value goes I would look at what the used 99-04 versions are going for to give you an idea. If you really want something that won't depreciate go for a GT500. Not quite as fast but just as cool (imo) and will be worth more in the long run. If I were you though I'd wait and save up for another year and then, if it's still even possible, get on the list for a new GT500 KR.

cshores, hold value? i am willing to bet saleens are one of the fastest depreciating models in the world. BMWs, hondas are likely slowest (ferrari holds value best - its a fact). they take a low end gt and gussie it up, offer a short warranty and you loose air as you drive off the lot. only reason i bot my gt new was i got a 2006 stick after the 2007s were out, got 0% financing for 72 months, what was then the new extended warranty (think 5 years 60k miles) , and x-plan price. my car has 7000 miles and i likely cant ever break even, but i know it hasnt been abused or wrecked and fixed.
