Top Gear host
ok, so i heard the top gear host, in his usual rambling saying that he hates mustangs, saying that he would never own a mustang because its the equivalent of supporting the war in iraq (...wow), but people always ask him why he owns a ford gt and he says that its fine since it was either designed or assembled in the uk somewhere. um, if you take a mustang and assemble it in australia or even design a mustang in australia, the mustang, like the ford gt is still 100% american. every time i watch top gear, this guy really pisses me off, he has nothing good to say about mustangs and american cars in general

Clarkson is the MAN... He has the job we all want. And he is funny as hell...
But... I'd love to race him on the track and the 1/4 mile in anything he can bring. Just as long as it does not exceed 25k... And it's factory stock... And not American made... I wonder what he would come up with... Because as far as him and American cars go... He's a... how do they say... a tosser... The "white toothed hamster" beats him hands down! He owns a 68 "bullit" mustang I believe... And Oliver... If Clarkson doesn't intercept it naturally... Because I can SO feel where the hamster is coming from... Cars have souls, and can be great companions. It's like a union...

Actually Clarkson got rid of his GT because it kept breaking down. Hammond, on the other hand, owns a '68 GT390.
In essense what they say is true, our American cars aren't made to the same specs as their cars. They have short windy roads, we have long straight ones, hence why our cars go fast and straight, and theirs turn. And by the way, they bash everyone on Top Gear, don't take it personally.

The number of facts that these two jackasses get wrong about all of the cars they review is mind boggling. How can they possibly think that a stage three roush has IRS? He was standing next to the car when he said it! All he had to do was bend down and look and he would have seen that he was wrong. They don't even understand how a dyno works...

I do find some of the misinformation annoying at times. But... the show is so entertaining that it more than makes up for that in my eyes. I love some of the off-the-wall pieces they do. The last episode I caught they had to pick 3 tractors they thought would be best for doing farm stuff (for biofuel actually) and some of the "tests" they did were hilarious. The Stig almost flew out of one of the Tractors going around the track due to no seat belts. It's one of my favorite shows.

too bad the ford gt was designed by carrol shelby so its all american
and then theres the new z06, they couldnt find one thing wrong with it so they had to say leaf springs were ancient technology, the interior felt cheap and that the fiberglass body was cheap
too bad it killed a bunch of porsches and ferarris and outran its own fuel
and has anybody else noticed that they havnt tried out the saleen s7? that would knock em down a peg for sure

We don't all hate you yanks!
Yes, I agree that the Ford GT (the new one, like Clarkson owned) was designed by a specialist groupFord designers in the US, but it certainly wasn't Carrol Shelby!!!
The Original Ford GT40 however was in-fact built in Britain. When theSmall-block cars were being out-classed by other cars, Ford passed several cars to Carrol Shelby who just whacked a bloody great 427 side-oiler in it and created the Mk.3 version!!
It doesn't matter what American car you send over, people in europe (I should know I am a Limey!) have this old notion that American cars are all big old barges that wallow around corners and only go in straight lines, which is of course bullsh*t!!!!
They have the image of old 50s/60s cars in their minds which were massive by european standards and this is what they think all of the US cars are like... some people are very narrow minded over here.
Richard Hammond owns a 1968 Fastback GT 390 4-speed, he loves cars as does Jeremy Clarkson, but he knows nothing about them. He is a TV presenter (who has one of the best jobs in the world IMHO) not a mechanic or engineer! I got really annoyed when they tested the GT500 and said it only had 440hp, as someone had already said, they have no idea how a Dyno works theycan be reallydumb! they only heard... 440hp, which is not the 500hp advertised figure in the sales brochure. I heard 440hp at the wheels!!!
It only kept breaking down because of the idiots that converted his electrical system to the UK regulations and fitted an immobiliser, alarm and GPS tracker system. Our lighting regulations are different to you guys so everything has to be re-wired. We're not allowed red-flashers for example, they have to be amber. It was nothing to do with the car itself, but of course they saw it in their usual fashion "duh... its broke, its a cr*p car" when in-fact it wasn't the car at all!!! It was probably a spotty 17yr old trainee kid who tried to re-wire it!
On another note, us Brits aren't all the same, some of us know different and can think for ourselves. That's why I own a '68 Fastback and an S197 GT...
Oh... and our fuel price is currently 109.9p per litre (That's $8.41 per US Gallon) and I still drive my GT to work every day!!! I love it!

Really- who gives a **** what they say about American cars and Mustangs???? Are they going to stop you from buying the car you??? No, so who cares. If I told you I didn't like Mustangs, and that they're junk, would anyone care??? Of course not. Buy the car you want to own and f#ck other peoples' opinions........
