Last night on Top Gear they raced a Mustang GT stock against the Lotus Elise on a course with a good deal of turns and some good stretches. The Elise beat the GT.

You won't find too many cars that can beat an Elise when the road isn't straight.....driver ability being equal.

Was it an Elise or was it the new Exige? I thought it was the Exige when I saw it but I may be mistaken. You figure though for a car that's about half the weight of a GT and just about 200hp it should do that well.

It was an Exige S and a Mustang GT. Top Gear has been using the new Mustang models as the butt of a running joke on their show. I'd gladly take on Clark in his mighty Exige on the Top Gear course. I don't think he'd be as pleased with the results though.[sm=lildevil.gif]

BTW, they redid this test with a s/c Roush....on a course that was nothing but winding hairpins (don't remember where it was). The driver behind the wheel of the Roush looked like he'd never been behind the wheel of a street car before.......drove it like he was trying to wreck it.

Exige S: 2077 lbs; 220 hp; 1.5 seats; MSRP 59K
Mustang GT: 3500 lbs; 300hp; 4 seats; MSRP 26K

Yea, these two cars are really in the same class alright. We should run a Mini Cooper against a C6 Z06 and then brag about "American Domination" when the poor lil Cooper gets bitchslapped on the road course. But what can I say........I'm a bitter person.[8D]
