2008 Pontiac G8 GT running a 13.12 quarter-mile at 106.65 MPH
Video of a new stock G8 GT. No power braking, new low mile car, it's only going to get faster. And this with the L76 and automatic! 6 speed So if this is what GM is puting out for a 4 door, The Camaro will be much quicker. New Camaro will be lighter, have more power, and will have a six-speed manual transmission.

[/align]What is going to happern to the Mustang GT in 2010? it has to compete with the Camaro withsimilar Times, becasue GM states that the Camaro will cost the same as a Mustang. If the Mustang is still a mid 13 sec car and the Camaro is a high 12. Most would get a Camaro.
Any Thoughts

GM's Bob Lutz has already stated that the Camaro will be priced much higher than the Mustang, because GM feels that the Camaro will be a "higher end" offering due to it having an IRS and what Lutz calls a much nicer interior. It's been stated also by GM that the next Camaro won't be a "fire breather", the majority of models will be V-6's, and the base could possibly be the same 2.0 turbo 4 featured in the Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice. And as far as weight is concerned the Camaro won't weigh much less (if any) than the G-8, which it shares a platform with. I'm sure we'll see a LS powered high end V-8 model offered, but it's numbers will be limited, and the price will be much higher than the Mustang GT. It will probably be priced somewhere in the range of the Challenger SRT8. The reason that they are able to price the Pontiac G-8 so low is because they didn't have to spend much on development for it, it's basically a rebadged Holden. They did however spend a lot of money developing the new Camaro, which will probably show up in the sticker price.

the camaro has alway been faster then the mustang (generally speaking). 1/4 times don't seem to affect sales too much. i think you typical driver of both car will never step foot at a dragstrip.
I'd day if the mustang is even close to the camaro in 1/4 performance, the lower hp won't matter (and yes, this pisses me off. Grow some ***** for the hp freaks Ford, GEEZZZ!)
As far as price. i would be really surprised if the camaro ends up being the same as the mustang unless
a) GM taks big time losses to keep up with Ford which would defeat the purpose of bring back the camaro
or
b) If Ford adds IRS and a bigger, more expensive motor to the gt to compete with the 'maro, and the mustang gets more expensive.
in conclusion, i think Fords had plenty of time to come up with a game plan to compete with the camaro and challenger and won't get caught with their pants down.

the new camaro has a 300hp direct injected 6 cylinder and a 422 hp v8,not sure about pricing but that ss looks mighty tempting.we have to sc our cars for numbers like that and a sc Ls7 is going to eat our lunch!

I dont believe it! That thing must have stickies, tune, & CAI! Dont be fooled because this thing is simply a factory freak & then some. Another thing, if we dont get a new engine & just a minor HP boost, I wonder if they will try to price the V6 Camaro right with the Mustang GT? Its like the Camaro never left the scene & they dont need a comeback! The camaro looks doomed from my perspective!

What makes you say that it's doomed? Everyone throws around that the F-Bodies didn't sell as well as the Mustang. Duh! They make 142,000 Mustangs in '02, and 42,000 Camaros. You do the math.
The car wasn't dropped because they couldn't sell it. They bailed on the whole Canadian plant because of union issues. The F-Bodies have always been priced a few thousand more, but their target consumer was different. Ford sells the crap out of V6 Mustangs, as a inexpensive entry level sports car.
GM built almost twice as many V8 cars, as they did V6's. Ford built 4 times as many V6's as they did GT's. Give it a rest already, the two cars aren't even in direct competition with each other.
I don't mean to sound like a GM lover, I'm just stating the facts. I own Mustangs, and GM's. I don't really care either way...But theres no reason to trash on a car thats likely to come out and slap a lot of cars around. Especially considering that the two cars aren't aimed at the same consumer.

I'm not getting into the whole next gen pony race guesstimations, but something is fishy about that G8 run. Only way its pulling those kinds of times at full weight is if its producing close to or (more likely) more than 400hp. Are we sure this isn't a GXP in disguise? If not, this G8 GT is definitely NOT stock. I agree with one of the commenters on that page.....looks like viral marketing to me.
Flame away.
