Default C7 Corvette

Just got my new Road and Track. The C7 Corvette will have a 4.7 liter V8 instead of the current 6.2 liter. The Mustang will probably see the 3.5 twin turbo V-6 in 2010 (and probably a V-8 option for now).

I could live with that. Did the article give estimated power levels?
I know with the new CAFE standards and the fleet MPG mandate, manufacturers are going to continue to try to get a lot out of a little package, TT being the best way.

There's a LOT of talk about a light duty diesel being available in F150s in 2010, too, but that currently is a legal clusterfcuk. But that would be cool, too.

the mustang is only supposed to get the single turbo 3.5 V6 at first which makes 340 hp. later to replace the V8 it will get the twin turboed 3.7 V6 making like 450 hp or so.

Oh goody It's turning into the late 70's all over again. Bye bye V8's [>:]

Meh this is still all spectulation. What I'd like to see is engines running off ethanol, like that Ford Interceptor concept (400HP V8w. ethanol)An American company just came out with a "do-it-yourself" ethanol distiller. It includes a pump just like the one at the service station, minus the credit card swipe. The best part: it makes the ethanol out of regular sugar, something that is currently at historical rockbottom prices right now.

I hope not but with gas going up the way it is I dont see how car companies can keep on coming out with 400+hp V8's.

Well I'm going into mechanical engineering so I'll just have to design a 30+ mpg 400HP V8. Then I'll sellit to Ford and everybody else will be uber jealous...

no to ethanol. it sucks for mileage and performance. regardless of the interceptor, i'm sticking with gas and then diesel and maybe eventually biodiesel.

yeah, biofuel is the way to go!
Ethanol demand is raising the price of corn, and they only use the edible part of the corn to make it. Biofuel will be made from all the corn husks and cob, the inedible parts. Also, maybe, from hemp plants.

Being able to feed people and power engines sounds like the way to go

I'm curious as to what the price of sugar would end up at should we decide to use it to fuel our cars. We've already seen what ethanol production has done to the price of corn.

Like it or not the days of high horsepower, gas sucking V-8 motors are numbered. We can all b*tch and moan about how a Mustang w/ anything other than a V-8 under the hood is an outrage, but that is what we are facing. Like it or not. Personally I'd be willing to use baby seals to fuel my car long after all of the fossil fuels are gone, but I am sure that won't score me any points w/ the tree huggers.
