Default 2010 Mustang GT Deal Breaker

With the new 2010 Camaro coming out with over 400HP and more recent news of the cost being under 30K for a Base SS V8. would it be a deal breaker if you were buyng a new car and the 2010 Mustang came with less than 400hp like 325-350? For me the price being equal the Camaro will be a better buy across the board.

Even at the published weight of 3880 the 422hp should scoot the Camaro down the 1320 in just under 12.9 seconds.
the 2010 Mustang will weight in a bit more than the S197 due to safty standards and new options, at 3750 and at 350 hp may be at 13.2.

Again the Camaro Dominates the Road, Frankly I am tired of the Camaro always out powering the Mustang, for once I would like to see a 400hp, 5.0L Mustang that weights 3700 and will cut a 1320 at 12.8......

For me it's a hell of a lot more then just pure numbers. Its the totality of the cars that would make up my mind. Besides I think the new Camaro is ugly as hell, if anything I would buy one of the new Challengers over the new Mustang, especially since I'm not to fond of it's face lift either.

I had a 2000 Z28 with a 6-speed in it. Man, I loved that car, it was great fun and the LS1 was just such a good platform. I always said I'd buy another one, but I just think the new one is ugly. And ultimately if I don't think the car looks cool, I won't buy it. I think Dodge did a better job with the Challenger.

The hp #s look impressive, but it remains to be seen just how well the cars perform in the hands of the owners. Ford may have to step things up to compete in that area...

Heres a pic of mine from the archives. I miss her...

I wish ford would just use that 5.0 DOHC crate motor theyve got for sale.

Its pumpin out 400hp without the help of a blower.
But I got a bad feeling they wont =/

But either way even if the new Mustang was going to have 600hp and only cost $20,000 its not like Ill be able to afford it. Im stuck with my 05

I agree, that Ford hit the Mark with the S197 Mustang.
But Looks can only get you so far.. I am tired of my Chevy Friends killing me at the track stock for stock / mod for mod..

I would love for once beating the camaro on even grounds.

My Friends 1996 Formula Automatic Bone stock runs 8.8 in the 1/8 mile and 13.4 in the 1/4. thats faster than the S197 stock, This Sucks, plain and simple.

If FORD does not put the 5.0L @ 400hp in the 2010 Mustang, I will not buy another mustang, I will buy a challenger or Camaro, most likely a Camaro.

You're point is purely opinionated. The times release by GM are reflecting low 13's. The price has not been officially released. It seems most people on various forums want the SS to start at 30k, but that doesnt mean it will. BTW, if it does start at 30, then goodbye GT hello SS! Consider this, the 400 hp GTO's dont hit 12's at all in stock form, so how the hell will a heavier 200 pound 400 hp camero hit upper 12's??? If you are tired of the camaro out powering the stangs, go get a GT500 & you will realize, its actually going to be the other way around.
