How about an EcoBoost Mustang?
#11
Many of the rumors (for what theyre worth) are leaning towards the 5.0L with 400hp, but ive also heard 4.6 3V for 2010 with 350hp, and a bigger engine coming after the refresh is shown off a bit. the 400hp rumor would leave a nice gap between the GT and the GT500, and would make it more competitive with the camaro and challenger. if dodge still exists when we get to that point, the challenger r/t is at 370-375hp now, and the same engine in the ram makes 390....needless to say, that extra hp from the ram shouldnt be too hard to locate in the challenger...and even though its heavier than the mustang, i think that ford should REALLY look to hit that 400hp mark with the GT...

I think the eco-boost should be used for the "mid-level" model. But serously, if the block is already ready for FI then this mid-level engine will be able to put up some serious horsepower. More than the GT model I would think. Turbo all the way!
Also, don't quote me on this but by 2012 all production cars must have 32 mpg highway. So why not just put the TT on the GT, get good fuel economy and call it a day. The performance will still be there... Both situations would be good.

It's too much for Ford to do all 3, I'd say dump the V6, but preferably don't call this ecoboost mustang an SVO. However, I've always thought the Mustang V6 should have a surname like the GT, so maybe the SVO or something similar would be good to add. I guess you could say it's like the Camaro having the LS and the SS.

cafe is just a revision to an old law, and its been blown WAY out of proportion with how it will impact the market.

Keep it simple/stupid. Two engines is all they need (V6 ecoboost and V8). Give too many options (like 3 or 4 different engines) and you lose some of your market because the car will have too many competitors in various segments and people will start cross shopping with cars it's not supposed to compete with. (BMW, Camary (2dr), and things like Impalas and subies)
