I'm gonna have to go for the 08. I already have a 67 fastback and I have added many factory high-performance touches to including the Shelby cluster & the Shelby drop so I have the old school pretty well covered already. I win.

The 08 would be a much more comfortable car to drive around in traffic with the added benefit that your feet won't get wet in the rain as they will in a vast majority of 68's.

With the modern driveline, safety and convenience features this comparsion is akin to choosing between the stone wheel and the radial tire.

'68 all the way. The '08 is cool, but it's so damn common. Any joe shcmo with a deep pocket can pick one up at a dealership, but a '68 is so genuine and cool. While the same joe can get one of those too, it's not the same. I would love to daily drive a '68 Shelby.

Driving around in a 1968 classic mustang as a daily driver with no cats and and layers of laquer is just raw. You'll break so many more necks driving that car than you will with the 08. And it's not just a question of looks, cuz 300+ HP is still respectable. Anyways I'm not gonna crit everyone with a page of why I'd kill someone for either one of those cars lol. 68 all the way!
I could not have said it better. Nothing like vintage mustang. I get way more thumbs up in my 67.

1968 GT500 KR without hesitation. That car is beautiful. Plus, I only have to drive 2 miles to get to the office. Both are great cars, but the '68 is just awesome. I'm sure that motor makes more than 335hp, and even if it doesn't make much more, who cares. That car is a piece of histroy, and in my opinion, the '08 will never have the same prestige.

another reason i would go for the classic...you can go out and buy a new model, but to have the option to have such a rare classic would be impossible for me to pass up.

i drive a classic car daily now, and its really not as bad as everyone thinks.

I've got an 07 GT 500, just took it to Myrtle Beach (about a 2100 mile round trip). Averaged 20+ mpg, rode in air conditioned comfort (top up or down), quiet comfortable, easy to drive. I'll go for the 08! Not that the 68 is not a cool ride, I nearly bought one 20 years ago and have kicked myself ever since. But for a daily? 08 fer sure!

It'd be a hard decision I'm sure. I've never been a huge fan of the 68 and latter Shelby's. If we were talking about a 65/66 GT350, 67 GT500, 69 Mach 1, or 69 Boss 429..........I'd bite without hesitation. Outside of that, I don't know that I could pass up the performance offered by the new KR. Buuuut.........it's possible I'd change my mind if I had both cars in front of me to make my decision.

After reading alot of post about peoples concern of comfort and stuff, I wonder if as many people would've been mustang guys or performance car enthusiast in general back in the day. Back when it was normal to give up alot of comforts to have a performance car. Like when the original Shelby Mustang came out he blatantly said it was an uncomfortable car that only a true performance enthusiast will enjoy. Look at the movie Two Lane Blacktop. Chances are most of you haven't seen it but there's a part were a guy's ridin in the main car and he says, "It's not too comfortable in here." and the driver replies, "Nope, doesn't even have a heater, slows it down.". lol I guess that's the advantage of the modern day is you can have mind boggling performance, and be in complete luxury. I have such a nostalgic mindset though, i'de rather have a nice challenging drive. Still though older cars aren't anywhere near as bad to drive as people are saying. I daily drive my '86 which might not've hit classic status, but it drives like an old car. When I want luxury and comfort i'll hit up the local Caddy dealer. Until then i'll take a '68 GT 500 KR, hold the a/c and power steering please.
