Is K.I.T.T a poser?

Yeah, it was only a GT. But this was no secret. It's fairly common to do things like this in TV and film. But this was by no means because the show was cheap. Think about how much they had to spend to make the GT look like the GT500 KR. Plus they had more than one car to shoot different scenes.
Think about it, you can't hear the car, you can't see how actually fast it is and most of the interior and (few) engine shots were aided by CG.
Too bad it was a horrible show.

It was an opportunity lost.
The original is kind of campy by today's standards, but at the time it was new it was a pretty straightforward action show.
If they played it more like a serious, realistic show it would have done much better.
As for ruining a car; not a big deal. Have you guys ever seen the abortion "Redline"? They destroyed a BUNCH of exotics in that movie. I hear they were owned by the producer or something.
That's one way to get rid of a car you don't want; sell it to your own movie at a stupid price, then destroy them.
I hope I'm so rich I can spend an afternoon destroying my car collection, one day.

I think if they hadn't gone so over the top making the car change into an f-150, a sub, a different mustang, a pack of smokes, etc that alone may have helped the rating. Its a talking car that drives itself, did they really have to take it more over the top then that?

In Hollwood Homicide they used two cars I believe. One being an actual Saleen the other being a clone. You can tell seeing some times it said Saleen on the head rests and others it didn't. Plus they had to wreck one so that must have been the clone.
