Ford was so successful that these other manufacturers are being lured back into this segment.
Not that I totally disagree, but a lot of the reason why the segment was dead in the early part of the decade is because America was in the truck/suv craze. People weren't buying many cars at all, including the muscle car. I think the reincarnation of the challenger and camaro has more to do with the market's return to cars and away from trucks than it has to do with some kind of commitment to beat the mustang. I drove a truck or suv from 1999 to 2007 until the gas finally destroyed me. Even though the stang isn't that great on mpg, it's 10 better than I ever got with my pick-up.

That being said, there's no question that the 05 stang redesign was one of the best things Ford could have done. They created an awesome car to carry them through the last five years.

Plus, the Mustang is a so much better looking car. The s197 is in my opinion the best looking car on the road.....and I have one. Wouldn't trade it for any other car out there. Nope, none.

Everyone has their "car", the one that they wouldnt trade for the world. I think here you are going to find alot of guys that would say the same thing about their Mustangs, myself included. My girl drives a Hyndi and i wouldnt buy another one for anything...they are trying to get into the sports car market, and this is a good intro but its not going to beat the mustang. Just my 2cents.

I read the whole magazine its sitting here in front of me... the genesis is by no means at all a mustang killer. And as for the 370z, when Ford allows buyers to put the eaton or whipple on the 4.6l 3v out the door, then it would cost about the same as a loaded 370z (about $37k). What do you think all these tards that buy cars see that the mustang and Z go for the same price but the mustang can hit 0-60 in 4.2 seconds and do the quarter mile in 12.3 or lower? I think that would be an interesting article :-)
