I was just curious and wanted to see what the difference was in fully loaded models with all the bells and whistles. I was shocked to see the Mustang GT was more expensive than an SS Camaro, without taking rebates, incentives and discounts into considertaion.

I don't know. The more I look at the numbers and test results, the more the Camaro seems like just a 2 door G8. The LS3 drivetrain is really the only saving grace IMO. The car is just too heavy, styling is too "hate it or love it", and the interior is a schizo mess. If you skinned it.......dropped the body of a 68 Camaro on it, and installed an 05-06 GTO's interior in it.......then you'd have my money.
My assessment: The Camaro got the drivetrain we all want (and the IRS if that's your thing). The Mustang did everything else better.

Having owned more GM vehicles than any other manufacturer, I would find it extremely difficult to ever give them any more of my money. Well, I actually purchased all of mine used so I didn't really give GM any of the money...
I'm not so blind to deny that Camaros can be fast, but I question the reliability of GM products based on my personal experience. I had moderate to major problems out of every one I owned. The last one was the straw that broke the camel's back. Before I bought my current 5.0 Explorer, I had a '95 Z28 LT1 with 120,000 miles. The car leaked oil from everywhere it possibly could, the interior was horrible both in design and quality, the t-tops and rear hatch leaked, the transmission slipped, and the anti-theft lit up just about everytime I was in a hurry so I would have to wait 5 minutes before I could start the car. On top of all of that, I wasn't impressed with the power. The LSx are much more powerful, but for a car that was rated at 275hp/300+ torque, the LT1 was a dud.
I wouldn't dream of trading my Explorer for another Camaro and I bought the Explorer for WAAAAY less than what I sold the Camaro.
