MUSTANG WINS! - Car and Driver front page!

I FINALLY saw a 2010 Camaro in the flesh at my hometown's car cruise lastnight. It was bumble bee yellow. I gotta be honest, after waiting for what seems like 5 years to finally see one on the street I wasn't impressed. It looks "cartoonish"" for lack of a better word. It's a lot bigger too than I thought it would be. Kind of like a 2 door full size sedan. It looks like a barge compared to the classic Camaro of the late 60's. It's a good thing it has over 400 horses under that hood. Because it's gonna need every single one to move it.

I've got to see one in person.
I liked the way it looked. It didn't quite remind me of a Camaro, but the car in general was good looking.
I'll be honest, I see a lot of fanboyism bashing in this thread.
Come on, honestly. Who thinks the Mustang has been on top in terms of performance for quite ahile? Honestly, it's not even the fastest car here.
If you like Mustangs * like I do * have sound reasoning behind it. Don't just bash the competition for no reason.
Having said that. It'll be neat to see the first 2010 Mustang vs *insert any rwd import* and see how poorly it fairs in these stupid magazine tests.

Well, I'll say this: I'm glad the Camaro and Challenger are being produced, as I think pony/muscle cars are one of the few cars on the road with a good "personality". 90% of the cars on the road are just boring, but these cars are fun, regardless of which of the three you have. However, with that said.....I've always felt the Mustang delivered the best all around package for my tastes.

Which is why we all love them so much!
But yes, +1 on it being a good thing that all three are produced.
As much as you love them, or hate them, the Big 3 each being represented in a 'pony car' segment is awesome.
When was the last time all three were truly represented?
Mustang and Camaro/Firebird have been around for quite sometime aside for the '03-'09 period.
When was the last time Chrysler/Mopar/Dodge had a player in the same true class as the Mustang and Camaro?

i actually saw a new camaro on the road for the first time today too. it looks a little better in person, but to me, it doesn't have the same 'wow' factor as the 05 mustangs did, or even the new challenger had when they came out.

I would give the new Camaro SS and Mustang GT a tie if they were both at the projected prices. I like both front ends, but dislike both rear ends. I prefer the Mustang interior, but the Camaro SS is a little faster and more comfortable. It really comes down to what you like, because they are both great cars. Let's be honest here. If the Camaro SS was going for MSRP it would be a great buy.
The problem that I have with the camaro is the markup right now. I talked to a salesman the other day that told me there was a minimum $8000 markup right now at dealers. I test drove a V6 and it was set at $37000! I couldn't believe it. It rode great and was comfortable, but I could not even hear the exhaust if I tried. I'm sure the SS is better, but the V6 didn't impress me a whole lot. I've drove the new Mustang as well and liked the ride just as good, plus it felt a lot more powerful and sounded better. I think that Chevy is going to have problems because thousands of people will go for the Mustang due to its better "bang for your buck" factor at the going prices. The Mustang is also WAY easier to get a hold of, especially if you want the SS Camaro.
