2011 Fender Badge Poll
 

Just curious what MF members want to see on the 2011 fender for the Stang GT.

The 5.0 logo is much more recognizable to non enthusiasts, so I think it would be Fords interests to bring back the "5.0" I think it should be in a new script though.

and a non enthusiast is going to care what 5.0 stands for? That's like saying a V6 owner is going to care they are missing two cylinders... (flame suit on :D)

I like the current GT logo.

why does it matter? the new mustang will be faster than a challenger with a 6.2 and just as fast if not faster than a camaro

The old fox '5.0' is an American icon, even to the younger generation as there are still so many 5.0 foxes running today. It seems like a no-brainer to me.

I won't own one, but I think GT is more likely.

5.0 would be cooler though for sure.

I apologize for my above post, I was drunk and took your post as a bash at the 4.6l for some odd reason.

I'd love to see a 302 badge, but a redesigned 5.0 badge would still be sweet. They should rock the GT badge on the back and put the 302 or 5.0 on the sides.

The Mustang is not just an iconic pony car or a retro-modern throw-back to simpler times. It's a fan-favorite performance vehicle that has a rabid and enthusiastic base of drivers, tuners and manufacturers behind it. So news of the return of the '5.0' badge to the front fender of the 2011 Mustang GT is likely to be met with a roar of approval.

Ford last stuck the 5.0 badge on the Mustang when it was last powered by a 5.0L V8. So now that the 5.0L Coyote V8 is expected to replace the current 4.6L V8, it makes sense that the 5.0 badge would return.

That logic is backed up by reports from a post at MustangSource who claims a Ford parts list contains an entry for the 2011 Mustang with the 5.0 fender badge.

Expect a badge familiar to fans and highly reminiscent of the badge used from 1979-1993 - chrome numbers with a red 'dot' between the 5 and the 0. But also expect it to get a modernized tweak, much like the running horse badge did for the 2010 Mustang.

My vote is put the pony and tri-bar emblem on the fender and a 302 badge on the front of the fender near the headlight to give it that real muscle car nostalgic look

1985 is when the 5.0 name started and it was conservatively rated at 210hp... the worst year for that engine i believe was 1975 when it made only 122hp..

the 5.0s beat irocs stock for stock in the quarter mile.. the new 5.0 is set to beat the biggest baddest cars from dodge and camaro stock for stock..

the only other thing i could imagine he is pissed about is he spent a lot of money on appearance and bought a tuner and can't figure out why he can't beat a 1998 LS1 :D

Being the old fart I am and always been fond of the S-197 bullit , then this is what I want. I had my holes welded after taking off the GT. I like it clean. Your either faster with a smaller engine or big engine numbers don't mean squat. So let the car speak for itself.

I think that when you order your car you should have an option between the different re designed badges. Then every person could get what they wanted...

I've asked this question a few times before, but no one knows yet. We'll have to wait until the specs are released. Everyone just keeps assuming its a 302 like the last 5.0's.....but that may not necessarily be the case. Personally, I'm hoping for a 304 or 305...the bigger the better. :D

As far as badging, I'd either like to see a tribar CID badge (not likely, I know) or a new modern 5.0 badge. The GT can stay on the trunk medallion.

Why is the 5.0 such a big deal now? the 5.0 displacement has been around for a couple of years in the saleens, and it wasnt that big of deal. Is it the fact that it is a true 5.0 and not some bored out 4.6L?

I think BOSS 302 would work fine.
