I don't care about displacement, just make power.

I can see the government nowadays limiting things, but dodge and chevy put big engines in their cars. look how hard it is to get that kind of power out of our engines without FI, as a side note since this is going to be a 4v engine, I wonder if the old cobra and new GT500 blowers will fit this new engine.

I seriously doubt it. It will have a different intake manifold I'm sure.

Back to the original post. Maybe fuel economy is the reason for the smaller motor. The 6.1L hemi is a gas guzzler compared to the mustang.

The reason ford uses smaller engines is the weight. Unlike some other companys who can only go left with there cars mustangs are race cars built for real tracks and got to go both left and right and be able to stop. Hence the slogan "total performance" that ford has used for years

I would rather have a 5.0 Liter 4-Cam 32-Valve V8 making 412 bhp than a 6.2 Liter Pushrod OHV V8 making 426bhp anyday!

Now a 6.2 Liter 4-Cam 32-Valve V8 would be a different story!

more displacement generally means more torque.

more torque generally means faster quarter miles times.

Horsepower does not to win races. Torque does.

Sure but smaller displacement engines can still blow everything away. AMS EVO pushing 1000+ HP. Supra 6 cyl pushing past 1000 HP.

I rarely see mustangs doing that.
