I've been watching it all weekend. They just put a 2011 Mustang pace car through for 300k. Now yes there were added incentives with it, drive around the track with a nascar driver, getting to walk around pit road, and many other things (this is all for Daytona). But still insane amount of money.

I went to BJ last year (not to bid, but to dream and drool). It is quite an extravaganza. The auction floor is only a small part of the overall BJ layout and week long event. It's worth going even as a sort of automotive pilgrimage for enthusiasts. Ford had a great display with lots of Shelbys, GT's, etc. Ford racing also had a nice display of wheels, engines, etc.

Barrett Jackson is helping to overblow the cost of classics and muscle everywhere.
Sellers start thinking "Well I saw that 70' Chevelle SS 454 LS6 go for $135,000, I should sell my heavily rusted 1970 Chevelle malibu (No motor or trans because I kept it for my goat hauler) for at least $15,000!"
Fastbacks are another example. Just 10 years ago you could grab one up that needed pans and quarters for less than $2000 and it was a driver, now your looking at $8k and up for a non driver.
Its a fun show, sure but it isnt helping keep the cars available to the average kid or adult.
Most americans make under $35,000 a year meaning all most can do is just dream.

i saw the friday night episode. and the 2 superbees were insane. the modded one went for $150k and the stock one went for a cool $250. WOW!!!! the 69 black on black with hubcap delete was insane($165k or so). was stuck on the couch in awwww of almost every car that came across the block. would love to go to a BJ auction one day. just as a dreamer, of course. unless i win the lottery
