Motor Trends, First Ride: 2011 Mustang V6

My bet is it'll still out run a New Edge GT.
I wanna guess 13.9. The Camaro runs a 14.1 with similar power, but slightly more weight, so I'd think a .2 difference is fair.
Yea? Nay?

The new sixxer is a little over a hundred lbs heavier than a New Edge GT. But as I said, its down on torque. On paper it should be at least a few ticks faster in the 1/4 than the base Camaro. I just don't know if I'm willing to call it a 13 second car just yet, though.

I just bought the 2011 Mustang V6 with the Pony Pkg and the Sync with blue tooth. it is far better than the 2006 I traded and not even in the same ball park. Mustang has come a long way in a short time. They will sell a bunch of these and this car is on a par with the best of german and Asian cars.

The new V6 is a beast, but for all of you interested in buying one do not even get into the GT. You will not be able to walk away from it. when I was buying mine I wanted to drive the V6 just to see what it had and it is nice, but night and day between that and the GT. The car just gets smoother every day I drive it and faster and faster as I learn when to shift this one and how it handles.

I nthought Ford sent me the Performance Pkg at no charge when I bought my 2011 v6...I found out why it has the better handling and wheels. On the sticker was a line that said "Rapid Spec 202A." The item was bundled in with the pony pkg with no explanation. It includes the 18" wheels, Pirelli's and a few other goodies. What puzzled me was the wheels - they look from 12 feet the exact same as the GT wheels but the tire size was one inch smaller in diameter and slightly smaller in width.
So the answer is that it is not the Performance Package for the V6 but an interim step until the real Performance Package is available in a month or so. Another dead give away is that there is no OEM shock tower brace which is to be included in the Performance pkg. This may not be the real deal but it is close enough for me. This car handle 177% better than my 2006 V6. I'm a happy new owner and Alan Mullali' and his staff have done a marvelous job in creating a world class car.

I have had mine for 1 week. I also thought I had the performance package but it was just the pony. My friend had a 2006 GT that I drove for a couple of weeks and this car handles just like it. The only thing I think that I think is better is mine handles better and turning radius seems a lot better. Acceleration is a little sluggish but catches up quick. Debating the upgrade to 3.31 axle because I do not want to lose too much fuel economy.
