2011 Mustang Info
Hey guys, I'm looking into getting the 2011 Mustang and have a couple questions that I'm hoping you'd be able to help me with
1. Is the V6 engine brand new or is it currently being used in another car?
2. I've always heard that it's not good to buy newly designed car during the first couple months/year. Would you say that it holds true the same about a newly designed engine?
3. When was the 2010 Mustang released and when is the 2011 Mustang expected to be available?
Thanks!!!

You may want to check out this part of the forum for more 2011 info.

To quickly answer you questions though:
1. Brand new, at this point it is not used in any other car, although that will change within the next model year or two.
2. The car is essentially the same as the 2010 except for the engine and transmission. Ford did a ton of r&d on these new engines so I wouldn't be too concerned about buying early, but that is just me.
3. The 2010 got released around late march to early April depending on where you lived. I assume the 2011 will be no different.

I was told at the Chicago Auto Show that the new 5.0 is an engine made up of parts from other engines, if that helps any. It was told to me by a Ford representative when I asked him what if any problems one might expect from a brand new engine.

1. the duratec 37 in the new mustang was used in the mazda cx9 starting in 2008. it is not new.
2. the "new" 5.0L is not really new either. it is based on the "5.0 cammer" sold by ford racing for quite a while. i do not expect to see any "bugs" from this engine.
3. i dont know for sure when the 2011s will hit the dealerships and in speaking with my dealer reps, they dont know either.
