2011 Mustang GT faster than Camaro SS by "a substantial margin"
#22
With regards to the origional topic:
MotorTrend's 5.0 time is only 0.1s quicker and 0.1mph faster than an SS. We'll have to wait for further tests to see what's going on, because judging by the 5.0's rwhp to weight ratio, it should beat the SS by more than that.

I'm not putting alot of stock in these claims that Ford underrated this thing by 20-30 hp. My bottom dollar bet is that this GT makes 412-420bhp in the real world. No more. I don't see it as being a big enough difference for this car to be a half second quicker than the SS....like some people were apparently predicting/wishing. I figured it being a tenth or two quicker than the SS (3 tenths at the most), and that seems to be on par with the initial tests thus far.
I just don't see why Ford doesn't offer a tire package similar to the GT500's (255's up front and 285's out back). Launching on those skinny 255's has got to be hurtin' the Stang's launch.

They are not doing a staggered wheel package because you can't rotate tires. Most consumers that are buying these want to be able to rotate their tires. One of the factors of me not getting a G35... staggered wheels = more tire costs
