Default New Member - 2011 Mustang Shelby GT500 question

Hi guys I just joined the forums today to get some info. Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

All my life i've owned Japanese turbo charged cars, 93 Mitsubishi VR4 TT, 99 Eclipse GSX, 2003 EVO8 and now 93 JDM Toyora MR2 Turbo.

Lately I been re-searching on the Mustangs especially the 2011. I think the 2011 Mustang GT really cought my eyes especially what you get for the price, but at the same time the SHELBY GT500 really really got my attention.

I know the GT is about 20k cheaper then the SHELBY, but the fact that I've had 12-11 sec cars all my life kind of pushes me torwards the SHELBY, because stock is 540-550hp V8 Supercharged if i did a little work to that car i probably could get int in the 600-650whp without trying. Would make my life a lot easier, then if i get the GT I know I wouldn't be happy with the stock HP even though its a great number for STOCK, but I know I would want to put some boost on it such as a turbo charger etc.

I really like the look of the new Shelby, never cared for mustangs much in the pass, but I feel like I want to take a new route and leave the Import world.

I've been trying to search how much will the SHelby weight and how much will the GT weight. Also the GT is 20k cheaper with that 20k I could probably get the GT to the 550 like the shelby with probably 10k no? Correct me if i'm wrong. At the same time i heard the GT does not have as good of a suspension as the shelby. Suspension has always been a big thing for me as well and I heard this years Shelby has a decent suspension.

Can anyone give me their thoughts and suggestions on what route I should take and tips and opinions? I would really appreciate it, thank you.

Cool

the shelby has alot of upgrades in the suspension and other parts of the car like interior, appearance, driveline, etc. that makes up the 20k more in the pricetag. me personally i would go for the shelby because it is already setup for boost and is a proven engine that can makes tons of power. the new 5.0L motor has a really high compression ration so you will only be able to put like 5-6lbs of boost to it safely which would put you in the 500+hp range but you would have to go inside the motor with new internals to boost it any higher than that
