Hyundai Genesis Coupe To Receive 429 HP 5.0L V8

^that would seem true....as they never put the current 4.6 in the genesis coupe.
The 8 speed would be an automatic FWIW.
I wouldn't be surprised if they did drop the V8 in the coupe and prices started somewhere in the 30K range.

If they did drop the v8 in the coupe and keep the weight it below 35xx lbs it could it could turn some heads. After being slapped around by the 2010 gt Hyundai seems like they are trying to bring in a bigger gun this time. I still wouldn't buy one though.3v guys use your tax returns wisely next year lol.

I don't see them being able to keep the price down on this theoretical V8 Genesis. The current top V6 model prices out in the low 30's already, I could see a V8 powered model easily cresting 40K to start. That's where the catch with Asian performance coupes has always come in. Yes, they make some really great performing cars, but historically.........they've always been far pricier than their American counterparts.

I hope it makes it and I'm willing to bet that hyundai prices it within a grand of the mustangs 5.0 man you can imagine the look on some v8 luving confederate flag wavving types when a asian dude rolls up in his hyundai and says yeah its got a 5.0 in it and my transmission has more speeds then yours to wanna race? rotflmgdao
Competition is a good thing heck the camaro is the reason ford had to step up so much with the 11's and on that note America as a whole really needs to step it up they are beating us at our own games and its not cool at all imo lots of you know exactly what I'm talking about especially when you take a look at where our supposed "american muscle" is really made/assembled and whose parts make it work!

I agree.. we really need to step it up. I was very excited about the twin turbo SHO and I thought we finally had a mid sized American car that could hang with the BMW M3. Well as you can see by the SHOS' numbers it's totally outclassed. Hell the SHO can't even beat a N/A Pontiac G8.

I think Ford's problem is that wouldnt their Mustang GT owners be a little p*ssed off if they brought in a 4 door sedan that beats their Legendary sports car?! Obviously there is no way the SHO will run with the new 5.0 but I'm willing to bet with a little more power it would have been beating the 05-10 GT's. Plus I'm sure Ford didn't want it's first Gen of the new SHO to be so bad@ss that they would have a hard time getting it faster and what not in the following years. I'm sure there will be a new model soon enough with 400+ horsepower.
That's just my two cents

Actually the V8 was planned for the current Coupe. The 2007 gas prices changed plans. I dont know when/if Hyundai will go V8 but they are definitely headed upmarket to battle Japanese. They have no choice as they know the Chinese are coming and will likely be able to out price them on the low end.
