I for one bought Ford to reward Ford for its hard work to improve their cars and to help try to put Americans back to work

My Mustang was made here, But my 2004 F150 was made in Canada?

The neighbors Toyota was made in Kentucky.

Even if they are made here, Where are all the parts made???

The sticker on my 2009 says its only 70% American/Canadian?

How much of that 70% is actually American?

Im not saying buying an American car is a bad thing, its just that you might actually be taking a job from an American building a Toyota and giving it to a Canadian building a Ford.....

Its so hard to tell any more.

Very true and unfortunate. You really have no idea.

For my specific car, the engine is made in Canada, which I am actually okay with because Canada is a good trading partner and not screwing the US with trade deficits that take away good paying jobs and benefits.

The tranny is made in China, which I absolutely object to. Though my car is made in the US by Americans being paid a decent wage with decent benefits, I hate that the tranny is a major component that unfortunately denied just a few more Americans jobs.

I have often heard that the Chinese transmission is cheaper and that is why Ford went with it. I tend to not buy it because if you look at the option difference, the auto 6speed, the 6R80, ONLY costs $950 more! So the argument that Chinese is cheaper is invalid here; if it is cheaper, the cars with the chinese tranny should be more than $950 cheaper.

None the less, I bought Ford to keep at least SOME Americans working. And I bought Ford to support they effort to remaining profitable even without the use of bail-out money. And I bought Ford because they are taking steps to continually improve quality and customer service.

I could have bought a Camaro, or even a Challenger, but what tipped me to Ford was that Ford didn't take bail out money. Besides, the Challenger has the additional strike of being a heavy boat compared to the Camaro and 'Stang.

I didn't choose Toyota (I have driven these for years prior to having my 'Stang) because for one, Toyota has entered a trend of sacrificing its legendary quality for the sake of trying to make too many cars at once (cutting corners in design costs, cutting corners by rushing the workers to where they do not have enough time to do a proper quality job, etc.).

But if I cannot buy a Big 3 car, I probably would have bought a VW or Honda.
Why VW? Well, out of the German made cars, they are affordable, yet also good cars. And primarily because Germany is not screwing the US over with trade deficits that depress away jobs and benefits.
Why Honda? Because these are great cars too; Honda is not sacrificing quality like Toyota is. Also, Honda is not practicing monoplistic deeds like price undercutting, like KIA for example. Kia is a poorer quality car and they are being dumped on the market at extremely low prices. This only further fuels trade deficits and thus wage/benefits depression.

mmm to bad there is not a hybrid option. Most of those cars have issues. Camaro's got the best engine but look and style of a trash can. Challenger drives way to big and feels huge. The Mustang's new looks of the car make it feel very small and who wants that. I am still waiting for a new 351 engine... So at the end of the day what I want is the handling of a Mustang with the looks of a challenger and the engine of a Camaro...
Choices...

I have always been a Chevy guy, I've never owned a Ford. Today I'm supporting capitalism and buying a car made with no bailout money, a 2011 GT500.

Now I now what the SS after Camaro stands for Supported by Socialists

awesome thread. Its sad how GM is tricking people into believing that they paid their loan off, but most people dont know that they had two and they only paid the small one off. i dont think i will ever buy a chevy, and i probably wont buy a dodge again after seeing how bad the quality is in my neon.

I've been contemplating this for a while. I finally make the decision to buy one and now the weather stops me from getting it. Oh well, at least I won't wreck it because of the weather.
