i don't mind the idea of a turbo four or 6 in a lower end stang. they already tested the waters in the truck market with that eco boost and the thing has been well received,. if the truck crew will give serious thought to a eco four, i bet most stang fans will too.

In all honesty, while i like the V8 sound if a smaller displacement turbo or TT engine allowed the stang to handle better, be faster, lighter, and have more overhead for aftermarket thanks to the forged internals that come with those eco motors I could live without the rumble. Im more about how it goes than sound, but i would like to have my cake and eat it too. i still hold out hope that a TT 5.0 will land in the high-end SVT stang when shelby goes away. I have no doubt that the 6 will go away in favor of an eco boost four honestly at some point. its the way ford and the car market is heading.

You do realize that the mustang has already been powered by a 4 cylinder and they would be putting the 4cyl BACK into the mustang, dont you?

I do have a gut feeling that itll be the 2.0L Ecoboost to slot below the V6 with 250ish horsepower or so. Chevys brining out a small 4 cylinder in their Camaro so the two will probably compete.

Chevy will need at least a twin turbo if they plan on putting a 4cyl in that heavy boat they call a camaro....just to get it up a hill. What made the SVO's great back in the day was that they were LIGHT and had a decent ammount of power. lol

You're basically talking about vtec, but thats nothing new, most every car manufacturer now has a system like that even if it is more relevant in the import world. And as said 4 cylinders were in mustangs throughout the 80's, and the SVO back in its day was a great runner. Part of the reason they came out with the turbo coupe thunderbirds that shared the 2.3l turbo as well and are also very quick cars.

I get the whole "no replacement for displacement" attitude, it suites the mustang well, but the car market isn't anywhere near that direction anymore. 4 cylinder engines have became a real force to be reckoned with, I'd be all in favor of seeing it in a mustang although I'd be very curious to so a V6 tt show up too.

VCT. Every new mustang has this feature, including yours.

*Edit* Just noticed I quoted the exact same line as mustangGT86_05. Not intentional bro, lol.

a 4 cylinder in a Camaro???? that just seems downright wrong... also wrong in the Mustang but wow haha.

With gas prices in the $4.50-5.00 range it wouldnt suprise me for Ford to put a IL T 4 in a Mustang. Im happy as hell that the new V6 get what, 31 MPG (depends on the drivers foot of course) but with a IL T 4 you could get even better MPG with just slightly less HP.
