How are the 2009 and 2010 owners feeling now that Ford has gone back to the 5.0. Buyers remorse or are those cars still up to the task? I am trying to find the best option if the 5.0 doesn't work out for me.

You could try to find a 2010 GT. You would still get the new bodystyle(if thats what you're looking for) and the 4.6 which has a respectable amount of power still and a huge aftermarket.

Could care less.

There is always a newer (typically) better version coming out. You could just wait for the 2014 model which will be faster than the existing 5.0, or wait until 2018 when that will be a faster model or better yet, wait until the 2025 model to come out and really whip some **** but that year they may do away with the combustion engine and just make it run on air or something then in 2032 they will be adding wings but they will also have a transporter like on StarTrek so you won't even have to buy a car.......

There are really only two things to look at when making this type of decision.

A. Get the 5.0 and know that you are driving a car is probably faster than almost everything around you.

B. Get a V6 and know that you will get really good gas mileage and have lower insurance rates (but you'll be wishing you had bought a 5.0 so that you could be faster than almost everything else around you)

When I got a 2008 Mustang in 2007, I purchased a 4.0 V6 model. I did so because of the car insurance premiums were much lower, the cost of the car was over $6000 less than a GT, and gas prices were high then too.
I did get sick and tired of all the JERKS who criticized me and my car because I didn't have a GT. Most of these JERKS were Mustang owners and so-called friends of mine.
All of them who have ridden in my car, a "crappy 'ol V6", were extremely impressed with its performance. And it does out-perform many of the older GTs.
I get 29 to 32 MPG on the highway and 21 to 24 MPG in the city, not that many here would be concerned with gas mileage. These are much higher than what the window sticker stated.

I've very happy with my 2008 4.0L V6 Mustang. If I had an endless supply of cash, I would have purchased a GT but I didn't have those resources. My car has 72,000 miles and it is still like new.

To all of those who continue to laugh and criticize because of my V6, well... I can't say here what I would tell them in person.

Buy what you can afford and what will make you happy.

Default '05 V6 conv.

My wife's conv. is fun to drive. I put cold air, GT muffler and SCT tuner on it. Gas mileage ranges between 27-31 on the highway. For her, that's all she needs. For me, I love a V8. You won't be satisfied with the six. Save up for the V8. There's something about the sound of a V8 that's a man thing.

I've got the 2011 V6 stock with the 2.73 gears. It's strong when you wring it out, but off the line, well... but if you are comparing the V6 to the GT, then cut your losses and stick with the V6, but make sure you order the Ford supplied 3.31 gears. Much stronger in acceleration but fairly forgiving in the mileage department, with no difference to the insurance company.

I don't car how much hp or how fast the new v6s are, you can't beat the rumble of a healthy v8, save up & go for the 5.0.
