I just traded in my MKV GTI for a 2015 5.0 and have no regrets. That said, with minimal modifications and an APR tune I had almost 300 HP and that car was quick. VERY quick. It was not nearly as sexy as the mustang, not nearly as much fun to drive, and well......it sounded like a 4 banger. No mods can fix that kind of problem.

You can not make 300 hp on Mk5/6 GTi platform. I owned every single gen GTi since mk3.
My mk5 GTI with full boltons and a tune was making 270 hp and 300tq. And it had the better TSI engine.
Lets compare Mk7 GTi Performance pack. My car now is stage 2 with downpipe and CAI making 330 hp and 400 tq. Compare mk7 GTI PPack to mk5/6 gen is just not serious. MK7 GTi PP is lighter, has a much improved EA888 gen 3 engine and bigger turbo charger. It has much bigger brakes which are ventilated front and back. It has a DCC dynamic chassis control and XDS+. But the most important thing is that PP GTi is equipped with VAQ. It is a Electronically controlled differential lock. Basically a hydraulically actuated torque sensing limited slip differential.
Mustang sexy car?????? Striking ...yes but sexy...only in your mind. I had 2012 5.0 MT it was OK car, but can not compare to overall joy and complete package that MK7 GTi is giving me.
