Had a '75 4cyl 4-speed manual. Bought it used in '79. Rust bucket but it was fun for being a high school car. I look on line every once and a while just to see what's out there. I've seen nothing that is worth even putting a dime into restoration - just not worth the time or money.

Only good thing about that car is the double wish bone suspension concept.
Overall, pretty sad years for the Pony.
You guys can love them all you want. I'll pass...

Come on, these were the worst days for "performance cars"! They were slower than a bicycle, laughed at and ridiculed. The only good things about the Mustang II was it kept the Mustang name alive.

At least Ford didn't stop making Mustangs during the gas crisis. I had a new 76 Mustang II in 76. $3,200 on the window sticker, zero options .

A buddy of mine bought one of those brand new, a '76 model I think. Four cylinder and automatic. It went through three transmissions in the first month of ownership, before he even had to make his first payment. There were no lemon laws back then. All the dealer would do was rebuild the tranny. Ford refused to replace it with a new one and rebuilds weren't working. He ultimately let it go back.

The ONLY thing good about the Mustang II (I even owned one...gak) was that Farrah Fawcett drove one in Charlie's Angels!!
