Paint supplier does not list earlier engine bay paint codes other than much newer codes(2). Need to find paint code and mfg. for 1971-73 era, other than semi gloss black. THANKS.

If you are not going for a concourse restoration, then paint it what ever you like, be it body color, flat,
semi, or gloss. The paint in the engine bay IS the body color, but do you want it flat, gloss, or
semi-gloss. So, if the body is black, then the engine bay original was an epoxy based semi-gloss black.

1971 FORD as example:


There is no specification for engine compartment, just blackout areas, accent stripes, trunk if
spatter. and moldings.
