New member from downunder
Hi all,
I've just joined the forum and thought I should introduce myself. It's Ron from down here in Australia and I've just bought a 1966 GT Coupe.I've had lots of Aussie muscle cars (all Fords) over the years and am getting closer to my dream car...a 1965/1966 fastback.
I looked high and low down here for a good one but they were all a little more than I wanted to pay at the moment.I found my 66 GT coupe which is a good one and have decided to go with this.It has a rebuilt 289 (original motor) and has Dart Junior heads, edelbrock performer manifold, demon carby, solid cam and forged pistons. It's an auto with a 2500 rpm stall and shift kit and goes very nicely.Dyno at 327 hp at the flywheel.
I'll post a photo shortly.
Hope to meet new friends here and share and learn from experiences.
Regards Ron

Thanks for the welcome !
That's always a great start.
I got lucky with this car as it has a really great body. Was painted 7 years ago (i'm always wary of the fresh paint jobs).
I got the original dealer invoice for the couple that bought it new in Calif in May 1966.The original service book and the total of all receipts spent on the car in the last 15 years.
I have steel styled wheels with white walls and Torque thrusters on it now.I like the whitewalls and steel styled wheels but am having trouble living with 5.5" rims and 6 inch tyres.
I have a set of Magnum 500 wheels coming from wheel vintques in the US.
Here's some pics of the car with both wheels.I'll try and get some better pics soon and lower the file size.
Thanks for looking and feel free to give me your opinion.

Sorry, the pic didn't attach as it was too large.
Here's a smaller one.
Yes we drive on the left side of the road. The steering was converted to right hand drive 15 years ago.Back then it had to be but now we are allowed to drive lefthand drive cars on the left hand side of the road legally. It's a little scary and overtaking is best done with care !
I checked this car out thoroughly before purchase and it is a factory GT for sure.
I'm hoping the new magnum 500 mags will look better. The back set measurement is slightly better anyway so I can get 8" rubber under without rubbing.

That's what I thought!!! Next question, Have you seen or know of any of the Special Edition 2000 year Cobra's that were made for Australia with the steering on the right hand side.. Ford produced 500 of these models just for Australia.... Would love to see a pic of one of those!!
