Back in the saddle
Finally got around to registering and checking in. Great forum here...lots of information. I made the decision to buy a 2006 Mustang about two months ago. I was originally going to try and hold out for a new Shelby but ultimately decided to buy a GT and save the $25K+. Been looking around here to get info and ideas for the purchase. Bought a 2006 Mustang GT Premium, Black/Dk Charcoal, IUP with charcoal aluminum panel, & polished 18" aluminum rims two weeks ago today. Absolutely love it. Really fun car to drive. I have had two other Mustangs in the past. In 1983 I bought a 1969 Mustang Grande w/351W for $500. Put a lot of money, blood, sweat, & tears into it and sold it in 1994. Went through withdrawl and bought a 1969 Mach1 to restore. Just as I was about to start ordering parts for the restore, I took the car into a body shop to fully evaluate the shell. Turned out there was layered sheet metal on one of the quarter panels and they suggested I find another shell or keep that car for parts. My job forced me to sell one of my vehicles and I chose to sell the Mach1. I have always been on the look out for another 1969 Mach1 or a 1969 Shelby (almost bought a 1969 Mach1 w/428CJ in 2000) but never found the right one. With the introduction of the 2005 concept GT, I was hooked. With the announcement of the 2007 Shelby, I was committed. I was not happy with the final changes on the Shelby nor the increased price, so I rented a 2006 Mustang and now I own one. I have been away from Mustangs for about 12 years, with the exception of cruising in my sister's 1998 Mustang. Glad to be back.
