My 1st car was a 65 Mustang Coupe...I'm baaack!!!

Hey folks...newbie here! I have been surfing this site picking up info as I go. I am restoring my newly acquired 1966 coupe. I plan on keeping it all Ford Mustang parts. It is supposidly "all original". But, define "all original". Well, at least to me, it has all Mustang parts. No aftermarket iems except for things like alternator, starter and other replacable things. I know my pony will not be concourse, but it wil be all Mustang parts, from a 66 coupe. The floos pans are gone but the fram and everything else is in excellent shape. A dozen or less 50 cent sioze holes but not too bad. The car has been through a lot. The right quarter has been replaced but looks like it was done in like 1972 or something. It was from an original mustang clip or something as it is painted light blue inside and out...under about 10 coats of what looks like house latex paint put on with a roller!!! I see different piston rod numbers when I rebuilt it. The pistons are .040 too. I had to put in a new crank and replace one rod to get it running...spun bearing from previous owner. Oil pump shaft twisted. I got a re-ground 1966 mustang crank and rod and put it back together. The odd red bench seat is complete with only tears in a couple pleats on the drivers side. I know you can get new vinyl, but when I re-do the car, I think since the vinyl is 97% good, it would be sacraligous to replace it. I will get new carpet, underlayment, etc. and I am debating about the door panels. They are complete but very dirty and some fading. It looks like they have been painted. I wonder, will it be worth more if I have old dirty ORIGINAL, or will it be better to have new to match the "like new" quality of the rest of the interior. I will have to get a dash pad and it will be one of the few things that are "aftermarket".

My first car was a 65 Coupe...paid $200! My dad and I layed carpet and got a rolled 66 as partial payment. We took the motor and interior out of the 66 and put it all into the 65. I was 16, it was 1973. I came across this deal on a 66 so I bought it! My second car was a 68 Camaro! Sold the Mustang to get it...$600! Man have the times changed! I love my new pony and the memories it brings back. My dad turned 69 this April. I had a box with some old cloth and parts we used to build the first one. I sent him the corral and horse, the original from my 1965 we built...over 30 years later. THAT gentlemen, is why I have another Mustang. This one will not be sold. My son is 16 and he thinks he has claimed it. When they dig it up from my grave he'll have it!
