new to the game w/66

I got a 66 mustang convertible w/ 302 . Not really worried about any perfect restoration type of thing just want to get it running and on the street for everyday use. it has been sitting in garage for some time but need to get it on the road. I know it needs a good bit of work. engine rebuild plenty of body work, floor pans, blah, blah the list goes on as you all know. but right now can't get it started replaced the battery and the coil but obviously that isn't the problem. it just kind of sputters when try and turn it over. needs plenty of new wires but don't really know where to begin. Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreciated. I got about 1 and 1/2 months til we move to FLA. So hopefully everything will work out.

sitting like that the old gas in the carb has probably gummed up the insides. best to take it off the car and flush it out good with carb cleaner, especially the main jets. better yet, get a rebuild kit for it and disassemble it and soak it in cleaner and put it back together with new rubber parts and gaskets. you'd probably have to do this anyway, so why not do it now. also good idea to drain the gas tank and flush the fuel lines out and install a fresh fuel filter after everything is clean, then get some fresh gas and give it a try.
welcome to the forum by the way, hope you succeed with getting it going soon!:D
