Default 'stang engine for a new ride

Just purchased a 1947 Lincoln Continental convertible (no engine) that I am considering a 302 Lincoln engine for.

Would like to keep it Lincoln unless going with a 5.0 Mustang would give me access to goodies that wouldn't work on the Lincoln engine.

All advice and comments welcomed. I'm a newcomer at this engine selection stuff.

(Sorry, last Mustang was a brand new '65 with all the pony do-dads. Still miss it.)
