Default Potential Stang owner w/ some questions!

Hello! I dont own a Mustang yet., but I am in the process of purchasing a newer car in the next couple of months. I have always wanted a Mustang since I was a kid, and now I feel I can afford one. I am not a big fan of the new body style, I'm looking to buy a '03 or '04 bone stock GT coupe with a 5 speed manual transmission. I do have a few questions:

1.) With traction control, proper snow tires, and sandbags in the trunk, how driveable are these cars in winter weather?
2.) Do all '03-04 Mustang GTs come with a limited slip differential, or do some come with open?
3.) Also is 3.27 the stock gear ratio for all GTs of these 2 years?
4.) Are Bassani and Borla the only two stainless-steel catback exhausts systems available for these cars? I've always liked Dynomax, do they make a SS catback system?

Thanks, and I look forward to learning more about these cars before I eventually buy one.

Yes i believe if you put snow tires on it with sandbags and as long as you semi know how to drive you should be fine. As far as i know all mustangs of those years come with the limited slip differential. 3.27 is the stock gear ratio and there are other companies that make SS exhausts for it. I know Magnaflow does but I don't know much about Dynomax, I'm sure their website would say something. But other than that goodluck with your future purchase, whatever it may be.

Welcome to the forum! I suggest reading some of the posts in the 4.6 section, the guys over there can answer all your questions when it comes to mods and all that tech stuff.

As for winter driving, I live in SW Ohio and we get a fair amount of snow sometimes and I always have to drive the stang. Sure, it's not a v8 but its still a bit of a challenge sometimes. I always take it slow, put some sandbags in the car, and hope for the best. lol. Just don't hot dog it around town and definitely don't attempt any major hills.

Thanks for the warm welcome and the great info! I went ahead and posted in the 4.6 forum, and I already know what exhaust I want to get., now I just need to get my Mustang! [sm=smiley17.gif] Good news about winter driving., probably not the most practical car, but I can't afford insuring a beater car just for the 2-3 times I can't drive in the winter. Luckily they clean the streets pretty well in Omaha.
