A Hi and a question..
Hi everyone, just joined.
I'm going to be buying a 1994 3.8 convertible this afternoon. She's in great condition and only 64,000 miles on it! So I'm very excited, always wanted a Mustang.
My question is the paint. The car is painted Iris Metallic. Not a very popular color for the car, think they only sold 1,300 then switched to a blue from what I can gather on the net. My boyfriend wants to paint it right away. I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do or not, I mean the color isn't my fave but I could probably learn to love it. I seem to recall all my "car" dudes saying that it's not wise to repaint over the original color, but I forget why ..something to do with matching the inner door frame or something? ugh
If we do paint it is there a color I should consider over another? It has a black top and grey interior.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks!
Zoe

RE: A Hi and a question..
Welcome, this is a great place.
First, do what you want with the car, it is yours. Congrats!
Are you going to keep it forever? Do you want to keep it original? Just a few questions will help you.
IMHO, I would:
1. keep the car exterior original until I could afford a killer paint job... (last step)(thousands!!!)
2. put the money into the car in small, wise steps.
3. put rest of money into gas and drive that thing!!!!!!
Welcome!!!!

RE: A Hi and a question..
Look at it this way. Open the doors, trunk and hood.
Look at all the places that are painted.
If it was me I would want all the color changed to whatever you paint the body, everywhere. Imagine the amount of work involved. Too expensive.
I agree with all of the above...buy some mods and drive it.
Welcome to MF!!!
