Hi, I just bought a 2001 convertible, not a day after I registered it, I just about tore the driver side door off it, while backing it up next to a column. I did the almost the same back in 85, when I bought a new GT convertible and crushed the fender and pulled away the nose while parking. This time around, I don't have insurance, and I hurtin' to fix it. I have made many searches for a used replacement door, but it seems doors are not easy to come by. I have found sites that offer genuine ford factory skins and shells. but the cost is much higher than I would expect for unpainted steel. Any suggestions, should I go with factory new, and have it done by a body specialist, go with a used door from who knows where, Or just let my local bodyshop hand me a bill for three grand because I'm clueless?
I would appreciate any advice that would steer me in the right direction.

Welcome to MF. Sorry to hear about that... if you cant find a door in a junkyard your gonna be paying out your *** almost anywhere else you go.

Welcome to the forum. You may want to check a junkyard, atleast if you find something there then you can get it on there and painted. It would be much cheaper than trying to go through a dealer or something.

And, I suggest maybe a remedial parking class! just kiddin, but definitely be more careful on the poor stangs. []
