Default Battery Cables?

I have a question. Would it be possible for bad battery cables to cause my Mustang to shut off in the middle of driving? I've been to plenty of mechanics and they can't figure it out. I'll be driving my car and it just shuts off out of nowhere.

You should be able to start your car and take off the battery, so I don't think the battery cables would be it. -- in fact, when your manual car has a dead battery what do you do? You push start it meaning you dont need a battery or it's cables.</P>

Check the alternator. </P><edited><editID>WhiteHawk</editID><editDate>37840.5250462963</editDate></edited>

yes check!! and keep an eye on your gauges...mainly your volts meter. these are your cars vital signs. i have a habit of keeping an eye on mine constantly. <edited><editID>BCisme</editID><editDate>37840.5458912037</editDate></edited>

I do from time to time look at my voltage gauge and it reads a little above the middle mark. I'm not sure if that is normal...but it should be. I've done everything possible to try to stay away from a Ford dealer for the reason that they charge through the roof, but I guess I'll go to any means to keep my pony alive.

Kenevil is right about the vaccuum lines, check them all, they can do that as well, although it would be all the time as oppose to only at times. ---- then again a vaccuum line can have a gash/cut that seals and unseals with heat and cold.... it's worth a check.</P>

if anything, take ur altenator out (probably take you a few minutes), go to Discount auto parts/Pep boys and let them test that for you. If it's that then you won't have to hook up to any computer diag. money robbing thing..... <IMG src=smileys/smiley4.gif border="0"></P>

I actually did that. I took both my alternator and battery to pep boys and they checked out fine. I also had a mechanic run diagnostic tests on the motor and he said everything came out alright. I'll take a look at those vacuum lines and see how they look and let you know. Thanks.
