Default just bought a 68 coupe

Hello

I just bought a 68 coupe for $1500
No rust..brakes shot..motor turns over and runs smooth..auto tranny seems to engage but could not drive due to brakes. no wrinkles on the body and I could not detect any bondo. It was an impulse buy but I am pretty excited about it.

I am looking to have fun with it and I dont care about matching numbers or things like that even though the seller was pushing the matching numbers. Just wondering if I paid to much

Just wanted to tell somebody because the wife is not talking to me right now

Dude, if all that's wrong with it so far is the brakes are locked up then I would have to say that you got a very good deal out of it. Get the brakes fixed and take the wife for a ride in it and she will forget that she's mad at you.
Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Good news!

The 68 mustang checked out great. The brakes have to be redone 700$ and the exhaust system needs repaired, I decided to just put a dual exhasut on it for around 450$ The engine and tranny seem to be good enuff to at least start as building blocks. ANy body know if you can take a 289 2v and rebuild it similar to a 302 BOSS. I am guessing intake/holley/cam. Any body have more info I sure would appreciate it.

Thanks

Shouldn't a 68 have a 302 not a 289?

they had both that year according to the restoration book i just bought. The VIN numbers show it as a 289 2v made in San jose.
