Not a Stang Owner Yet! Need Help!
Hey everyone I'm new to this forum but I came here get some answers. I want a Mustang! My problem is I don't know what to get. Im pretty much only looking at the 94-98 Mustang GTs. I love that body style. The big dilema is what will suite me better the 5.0 or the 4.6. I like the 5.0 cause its been around forever and parts are available like crazy and they are cheap to find. I like the 4.6 cause its newer and its a OHC. (I'm going to be an ex Honda owner hence why I like the idea of a OHC V8). What I want to know is what will be more dependable when I start to mod it? What will be easier to fix? What will pass smog easier. These are some of my many questions. The big thing is dependability when I mod it and which engine will take a 150 shot of nitrous in close to stock form. I hope I can get some awnsers here. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the board. The best thing you can do is check out both the 4.6 and 5.0 forums, ask some questions, and compare to come to a conclusion. I do not have that much expierence with the 4.6. They are great cars, but so are the 5.0's. There is a year or two in the range you are looking at that do not respond well to modifications, they are finiky according to the 95 owner I know. I dont want to give you a biased opinion, so ask away.

Well thanks for the feedback I think I'm leaning a little more towards the 5.0 . I really like the sound of it. I plan to do basic bolt ons to my future car headers/intake/exhaust and Nitrous between a 100 to 150. I was reading that the 4.6 takes a 150 shot well. But all I have been reading is that people with 5.0s only go with a 100 shot with stock internals. I wanted a 150 shot but it looks like I need to do more research. Also I read that the 96-98 weren't the best mustangs all stock. Which my car will be for a while. I hope to hear more feedback.

If its in your price range check out an 05-08 GT. Its really been embraced by the aftermarket companies and its a ton of fun to drive. 13.5x 1/4 times on a stock car is a great place to start.

The 05-07 would be great. But that would be a little out of the price range.A 99-04 would be cool but I'm not too into the style. Pretty much its a 94-98. Foxes are out of the question. Thanks for the reply.

Go for the 94-95 5.0 because they are easier and cheaper to fix. They also have a larger aftermarket then the 96-98 4.6 mustangs. I have had good luck with my 94 and love the low end torque of the 5.0.

Yeah I keep reading that the 5.0 is easy to fix and I was lookin through online catalogs and the 5.0 parts arecheaper. I like that . Oh I have a question do the 94 GT's weigh less than the 96 GT's?
