stuck in the snow
Hey everyone. I drive a 1996 V6 mustang, nothing special...someone borrowed my car (bad idea) and parked it where no one had shoveled. Now, I thought my driver-side rear wheel was my drive wheel. Today, when trying to get ou of that spot, i heard my tire spinning out, but watched the driver-side wheel as it didnt move at all. The car was making wierd noises in the back, so I got a buddy to hit the gas, and I saw that the passenger side wheel was spinning, but not the drivers side. I put some boards down, and got the car rolling, and now when the car spins out on ice, i can watch the drivers side wheel spin, and it doesnt really sound like the passanger side is slipping. My question, does anyone know which wheel is the drive wheel on a 1996 mustang? also, would snowtires make driving easier over in the northeast? My dad (who used to know a lot about cars back in his day) said they would not help, because of the way the drivetrain is set up. Thanks for reading.

RE: stuck in the snow
The right wheel would be the driving tire. chains would probably be your best bet if you have to drive in those conditions. Another tip would be to hold your brake and mash the gas so power will be sent to both wheels for better traction.
