Howdy from Austin, Texas!
Hey All -
I've been a 'Stang guy for ages, but never got on these forums. I've got a couple of Mustangs today.
The first is a 1968 coupe that has just been media-blasted and is having a cubic boatload of cool stuff dome to it. To start, we took an EFI 351W out of a '94 Lightning and then had it rebuilt with forged pistons, FRPP GT-40 aluminum heads and converted it to a roller motor. Then I got the Grab-a-Trak super duper deluxe suspension kit (upper and lower control arms, poly bushings, 1 1/8" front and 1" rear sway bars, 620# springs up front, 5-leaf mid-eye springs in the rear, KYB shocks, under-ride traction bars and so on). Next, I got a TKO 600 5-speed transmission, and built the rear end with 3.50 posi gears. The body has had every bit of rusty metal replaced - new fender, new floors, new trunk lid, new cowl, all that good stuff. For the body, I've gone with the Shelby style hood (need the extra space for the EFI) and side scoops, pretty understated. The car is in process of being shot with paint, and then comes assembly. It's been 2 1/2 years, so I am dying to get it back.
The other Mustang is a 1989 LX 5.0 that I got from the original owner, who was literally a little old lady from Dallas. It had low mileage for its age and it is totally, 100% bone stock and in amazing condition. I needed a daily driver and I saw this LX in great cosmetic shape so I jumped on it. I've done a bunch of work on it, but all around safety, no real performance stuff. New OEM rack and pinion, new OEM AOD transmission from Ford, rebuilt rear end (although I did have the drive train place change the gears to posi 3.73 while it was being rebuilt). I have fixed a bunch of annoyances like the rear hatch wasn't closing easily and the fuel door actuator didn't work. I also put new headlight lenses in since the original ones looked like etched glass. For the most part, I want this car to stay bone stock. It's easy to find hot-rodded (read "abused") Fox bodies, but an original condition one is nearly impossible to find. Heck, I am even still using the stock stereo! This think looks darned near like it did when it drove off the lot!
Anyway, I am having a blast, and thought I'd pop on and say "hi" to everyone. Hope to make some good friends here!
