Those are the inlet and outlet of your heater core. One goes to your cylinder head and the other to your intake manifold. The heater core was probably leaking, which is the only reason someone would disconnect it.

good look with all that, +1 with bringing it to a shop. I was about to buy a mustang (had the loan check and all) and brought it to someone i trusted and when we lifted it there was a tree branch stuck under it that was pretty big, there was no oil in it at all and we couldnt tell until we lifted it that there was a new front bumper so idk what happened before that but that car was messed up! and the carfax was clean.
